Mixing it up: Three things for you

I thought I'd give you a pause from me sharing my thoughts on how to have closer, more connected relationships and instead offer some recommendations from other people.

  1. If you have just a moment, I like this IG post by Ester Boykin about how we create emotional safety in relationships.

  2. If you have a little time, check out the The New Happy newsletter. Stephanie Harrison drops little bits of information and guidance on how to 'get happiness right in a world that's got it wrong.' Her weekday newsletters are very short, encouraging, and packed with psychologist-approved ideas.

  3. If you have 30 minutes, check out this interview with Dr. Marisa Franco, author of Platonic. Most adults say it's hard to make friends once you're out of college, and Dr. Franco suggests that loneliness is a public health issue, saying "loneliness is as toxic for our bodies as smoking 15 cigarettes a day." But she also points out that we don't have to be stuck simply wishing it was different, and she has clear suggestions about how we build close friendships no matter our age. You can listen to it or read it.

If you like this, I invite you to sign up for the Strong Enough To Talk newsletter. You’ll receive a brief, weekly email with expert, practical guidance on how to build deeper, more intimate relationships.
